Opening Day for Cleveland Indians

A sure sign of Spring is the announcement of opening day for Major League Baseball.  Well, if you live on the East Coast, that can be a bit dicey.  Opening day for the Cleveland Indians will be like going to a football game in November.  Instead of a cold beer and Lemon Chill Icee, most people will be opting for the hot chocolate and a blanket.

If it were up to the fans, opening day would probably come around the first of June since it wouldn't be unusual for it to be cold until then.  Everyone knows Cleveland is a die-hard fan city and will tolerate the weather for that first game of the season, however, any games after that is a coin toss until the weather warms up.

I will be sporting my Indian's gear and rooting them on for the first win of the season, only I will be in the comfort of my favorite chair with the heat set at a nice seventy-degrees.

Go Tribe!

Awkward Moments

I have my radio interview tomorrow morning with Authors Show Radio to promote “Obsessive/Obsession”.  I finally went over the questions they sent so everything will sound natural and not rehearsed.  The questions were pretty general and I think I can handle them okay.  My only hope is I get in the mood to do this by morning because, right now, I’m not really in the mood.

These last two days have been very draining.  After sitting in my car for over an hour yesterday trying to leave work and dodging the over-indulged partiers celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, all I want is to spend a relaxing morning in peace and quiet.

I also missed Plaid Sabbath at the House of Blues because I was busy, but I heard the place was packed.  I was told they did a wonderful job and I hope this leads to future bookings for them on every St. Patrick’s Day.

I have a few more interviews to promote the newest novel “Nayla’s Dilemma-The Ends of Justice” coming up and the Dayton Book Expo.  I hope I can keep all this straight and not mix everything up.

In other news, I am working on the third installment of this series.  Even though this book isn’t slated to come out for some time, I still have to prepare ahead of time.  Following my agenda, I had to get the cover together after writing the story.  I had in mind what I wanted for the cover but like most non-artistic people, I had a hard time explaining what I wanted.

Most people know I have two adult children.  Not being a bragger, I think my son and daughter are beautiful.  I immediately thought of them for this cover.  I called my daughter and ran the idea past her to see what she thought.

She was hesitant at first.  My genre is mostly romantic novels and of course she wanted to know who I had in mind for her to pose with.  I had a few people in mind that I wanted but needed to contact first.  As I was going through my phone, my son’s picture popped up.

While my daughter is more outgoing and social, my son, on the other hand is quiet and more like me when it comes to pictures.  While he is tall and very handsome, he is very not into taking pictures.  Why is it these are always the perfect types you’re looking for?  After I told my daughter my thoughts, she gave me that AWKWARD response with the raised eyebrow.  I had to agree that would be a little weird even if they weren’t posing in a romantic way.

I still wanted my son to pose for the cover. I asked, and after a few silent moments of deep thinking, he agreed.  I had to spring the other news on him about his sister.  When I pitched him my idea, he gave me the same response…too awkward.

Back to the drawing board I went.  Once I started plotting out my cover, I realized my daughter looked too young to be the lead female; she was more than happy with this decision.  I had to find another female for my son now.  I was able to find a young lady that agreed and she fits the part.  I can’t wait until we set up the shoot to see how they photograph together.  “Fighting the Desire” will be the third installment and hopefully a good read.  If I make it through these photo shoots with my son still speaking to me, it will all be worth it.

As always my post ends with a plug.

Old Hand Trying to Do A New Trick

I used to love playing around with the computer to see what I could do with all the different programs.  Now that I am older, I don't have the patience nor do I understand how to make this stuff work like its supposed to.  I tried to make a video for my new book.  I read up on how to do this and all the bloggers, posters, and internet wiz kids said it would only take a few minutes to make this short video.

Well, it took me over three hours to do a two minute video! I swear old age and technology do not go hand in hand!  Here is my video, tell me what you think.

Reflections on Life

If not now, in a few hours the price of "Nayla's Dilemma-The Ends of Justice" will be only $0.99 on both Amazon and Barnes & Noble.  To follow the story of the Lofton Sisters, read "Obsessive/Obsession" first and then "Nayla's Dilemma-The Ends of Justice."  Read both for only $1.98!

Again, I like to say thank you to those that have purchased both novels or ebooks.  I hope to have more to share in the future.  I'm working on the third installment in this series "Fighting the Desires" and hope to have that out by the end of the year.

This has been a dream come true for me.  I've always wanted to do this but never had the nerve to actually do it publicly and I thank God for giving me that much needed push.  If you have a dream, follow it before you wake up one morning saying "I wish I'd done that."

The saying "no pain no gain," doesn't just apply to working out.  Doing this has been a lot of pain but also a lot of gain.  Maybe not riches, but growth in myself to know I can do what I put my mind too.  Some do it for the money, I'm doing it for the satisfaction of enjoyment.

There was a time, I felt my duty was to work my nine to five, come home do my duties there and start over the next day.  Writing, doing interviews, conventions and trade shows have shown me otherwise.  I have a lot of life to live outside of my nine to five and I'm enjoying it to the fullest.

So get  your dreams out your head and start living them before its too late.

Bummer Day At NASCAR and Vacation is Over

Oh well, Jeff Gordon didn't have a good day in Las Vegas today.  He blew a tire at the end and didn't finish the race.  Now I have to wait two weeks to see if he can regroup and get his mojo back.  On another note, its good to know he hasn't given up on racing and is more determined than ever to win that fifth championship.

Even though I love my NASCAR, I love my Cleveland Indians more.  I know, people wonder why I even bother cheering for them.  I'm not a fair weather friend, I like the Indians good or bad.  There was a time I could name all the starting players, now I don't think I can name more than one or two in the starting line-up. But,  I love baseball and I will watch when I can and root for my Indians and maybe take in a game or two this season.

My vacation is over and back to work I go.  It was nice to be away but it was a working vacation in a sense.  I got a lot done on my my book and uploaded it for a few eReaders.  My next step is getting my materials together for my April book expo in Dayton, Ohio.

Everyone have a blessed and safe week and I will blog with you again soon.  As always, I will end my blog with a plug.

Honors

Today is my birthday and I thank God he blessed me to see another one.  With so much going on in the world these days, you never know what your future holds. I thank my family and friends for all the birthday wishes and kisses I received today.  I also received an unexpected gift.  I get the monthly newsletter from my publishing company.  I sometimes wait a few days before I open it or just delete it without opening it at all.

Today I decided to open it since my second book is ready to be published.  Reading over the newsletter and checking out the specials, I didn't see anything that caught me as overly interesting.  Scanning to the bottom of the page they list all the new books and new authors or spotlight authors. I like to read that section for local authors that I can connect with or email them on their accomplishment.  Low and behold, under the top five bestsellers list tab there was my book Obsessive/Obsession!  I had not idea made the list.  Had I not opened the email I would have deleted it not knowing I had made that list.

For me, I see this as an honor to make any list.  What a great way to celebrate my birthday.  I hope to continue to bring in readers and have them enjoy my work.  My second book "Nayla's Dilemma - The Ends of Justice," will be available for Kindle in 24-hours for $2.00.  The paperback version will follow later in the spring.

This story is the follow-up to "Obsessive/Obsession," which is available for Kindle or other e-readers at www.amazon.com, www.smashwords.com and Google ebooks for the low price of $0.99.  Get the both for less than $3.00! You can't beat that.
